5 Reasons Why You Need a Key Account Manager for Your Public Sector Training Needs:

1.     Personalised Ongoing Expert Advice

Whether you want to learn how to futureproof your learning and development strategy or ensure you’re making full use of your team’s talents, our Account Managers have the experience and insights in the sector to help you build a training program that will elevate your team’s skills and performance.

2.     Stronger Alignment to Organisational Goals

Training can be assigned to employees for many reasons, but it’s important to factor in the long-term goals for every reason. Although the training may be used to develop a skill needed for now, how will this help achieve organisational goals?

Aligning employee training to organisational goals can be tricky from an internal point of view, so having an Account Manager will help gain an external view so you can work towards the best solution for the employee and organisation.

3.     Point of Contact and Access to Resources

Your Account Manager is there for any questions you have about learning and development, public sector training and more. Our team are a knowledge hub for all things training!

Building a lasting relationship with your Account Manager means you’ll know about our new upcoming courses, content and focus groups with our trainers – you may even get a discount code here and there!

4.     Greater Resolution for Skills Gaps

Your team’s skills gaps are likely to change every 6-8 months, often highlighted by changes in public needs and much-needed process changes. Whenever your employees need to upskill or develop their skills, your Account Manager can help you nail down exactly what is needed and how to put this in place with the correct training.

5.     Improved Talent Development with Tailored Training

Organisations that focus on developing employee skills are 52% more likely to innovate, 49% more likely to improve work processes and 98% more likely to retain high-performing employees. As your Account Manager gets to know you and your organisation, they can work closely with you to recommend tailored training which will help you continually improve your employee’s skills.

Get to Know Account Manager: Gemma

Hi, I’m Gemma and I currently lead the Key Account Team. I’ve worked at Understanding ModernGov for 12 years now.

What’s your favourite thing about being part of account management at UMG?

Listening. Having the ability to listen and find solutions for our clients is both extremely rewarding and educational at the same time. I am constantly learning.

What’s one skill you think everyone should learn?

There are a few I can think of, but the ones that really stand out for me are self-awareness and Empathy. Empathy is an essential building block for many things in life, it helps us better understand how others are feeling, maintain relationships and can dictate our success in both personal and professional relationships.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever learnt at a training course?

At our Confident Communication for Women course – Personal Power comes from confidence.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Whatever you do give it 100%.

Get to Know Account Manager: Chris

I’m Chris and I’ve been part of Understanding ModernGov for almost seven years. I’ve worked across a variety of teams but I’m now working on the Key Accounts Team.

What’s your favourite thing about being part of account management at UMG?

Having those first conversations with clients and accounts to see what they need, and then putting together the best solution. Seeing them just as excited as me about the training we deliver makes it a very rewarding job.

What’s one skill you think everyone should learn?

Emotional Intelligence. In a world that’s so connected, it can seem the opposite at times. Being able to empathise with others and understand how others feel is so important.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever learnt at a training course?

The importance of your breath in stressful situations. Taking a moment to step back, focus on the breath and just be present in that moment with yourself can be all you need to get back into the zone to overcome the challenge laid in front of you - whether it’s a presentation or a meeting.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Eat the frog. If you have one big, important task you have to do each day, get that done first! That way, the rest of the day will be a breeze. Eat. The. Frog.

The variety of client relationships we build and also hearing amazing feedback when they have run a course. Working within this team has definitely made me use my initiative more and the support and comradeship from my team members are the best!

What’s one skill you think everyone should learn?

There are 2 skills actually. I think everyone should have and that is listening and communication.
